Zimbabwe’s hospitals paralysed as doctors go on strike

Zimbabwe’s poor majority had been left stranded as junior and mid-levels doctors in state hospitals started on a strike. With these hospitals already without drugs and basic products, the government is threatening to discipline those who go on strike.

The country is already suffering from a shortage of qualified doctors as many had left Zimbabwe for better options overseas. Residents are also up in arms because wealthy ministers travel to overseas hospitals while the poor are turned away at state hospitals.

The late Robert Mugabe who is blamed for the state of the country had also been treated at top hospitals in Singapore instead of using the services of his country’s impoverished and destroyed hospitals.
