Middelburg albino case – Civil Rights Commission lauds sentence

MIDDELBURG The CRL Rights Commission welcomed the decision by the Middelburg High Court Judge, Segopotje Mphahlele, who on  passed two life term sentences on Themba Thubane for the gruesome murder of a young person living with albinism and her cousin in Hlalanikahle in Mpumalanga. The  Commission said it hoped that this sentence will send a strong message to anyone who masqueraded as a traditional healer, yet undertaking activities that bring this traditional practice into disrepute. People with Albanism – more education needed

Tumelo waga Dibakwane Themba Thubane (41) had been successfully convicted for the kidnapping and murder of Gabisile Shabane, a 13-year-old child who lived with albinism. This had once again  highlighted the need for proper education on the skin disorder.
