Two more policemen were killed in a car accident, bringing the death toll of similar deaths in Mpumalanga’s SAPS to five since beginning June this year.
Constables Portia Makhosazane Zwane and Mthokozisi Erick Nkosi both 27, died when their vehicle was hit by a truck which was traveling from Ermelo in the direction of Oshoek. The SAPS members were turning onto the N17 when the accident occurred. According to police officials both vehicles were traveling at some speed as the truck and the police vehicle landed in a nearby plantation after the impact. Zwane was killed on impact while his partner succumbed to injuries in the hospital. Both constables were stationed at the Mahamba Port of Entry.
