Mpumalanga police commissioner Lieutenant-General Mondli Zuma has warned community members not to take the law into their own hands. The warning came after members of the community at Anthol Trust, near Hazyview set alight two huts belonging to two men suspected of having amputated a 13-year-old boy’s leg with a panga.
“Police received information about a child whose leg had been cut off by two men. They immediately rushed to the scene and found the boy’s leg amputated. The community members then proceeded to the place where the alleged suspects reside and set alight two huts,” said Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Leonard Hlathi.
Hlathi said no arrest has been made to date. Police were investigating cases of arson and an attempted murder case.
