During an operation on a farm in the Klerksdorp area, police uncovered a hunting rifle, a shotgun, a special revolver and a pistol which led the team to a second farm in Hartbeesfontein. A suspected was arrested on the first farm and two more at a second farm.
While the police was actually looking for illicit guns, they found 100 rhino horns as well and four tiger carcasses. The value of the horns is approximated at almost USD 46 000 (almost R675 000).
The suspects appeared in the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court yesterday, Thursday, 28 November and would remain behind bars.
