Another R59 billion bailout for Eskom

The  government is making an extra R59 billion ($4.24 billion) available to Eskom for the power utility to use over the next two years, according to a special appropriation bill seen by Reuters.

At the same time, national Energy Regulator Nersa is reviewing increases proposed by Eskom without consulting Nersa. This will hopefully see a drop in utility prices if fair and transparent as the fuel price decrease was eaten up in the consumer pocket by this “illegal” raise.
